To this day, Bangkok expats and tourists love taking the Honda Zoomer X for their daily, weekly and especially monthly rental at Fatboy’s Motorbikes!
But why do our customers love this model? Admittedly, we have also had customers who found that the Honda Zoomer X was not for them, and they switched to another model that better suited!
As motorbike experts, we at Fatboy’s wanted to give a detailed, honest review of the Honda Zoomer X model, so you can decide if you want to rent this model with Fatboy’s! Or perhaps make the ultimate decision of buying one from us.

Style & Design
The Honda Zoomer X certainly does not look like the average scooter. With its body cage, cubic headlight and turning lights, and unique V-shaped handlebars, this bike certainly looks highly modern and futuristic.
Typically when a bike’s design is particularly unique, just like with the Yamaha Qbix 125CC, people either LOVE the style or HATE the style. We at Fatboy’s are impartial to the design as we personally value other factors like convenience and safety more when selecting our favorite bikes – so it really boils down to personal preference.
The Honda Zoomer X comes in a wide variety of colors, some of which certainly standout due to the brightness. Pink, yellow, neon green and neon orange are just some of the body colors available, although less flashy colors of black and matte blue are also options. Again, it all comes down to personal preference!
It must be remembered that the Honda Zoomer X is a smaller CC bike – meaning that the bike’s frame is not made for taller or heavier people! So just remember, if you have particularly long legs or you pack on a few more pounds, the Zoomer may feel too small for you.
Convenience
For a 110cc scooter, the Honda Zoomer X has arguably more convenient features against other smaller CC models in the Thai motorbike market.
Firstly, the Honda Zoomer X has relatively large compartment space under the seat. There is enough space to fit an additional helmet or a small bag, so you can always have a helmet for a passenger!
Additionally, there is sufficient space in between your feet to comfortably place a larger bag or backpack without worrying that it may fall off while driving.
While the Honda Zoomer X does not originally come with a bag hook for you to hang small plastic bags of groceries etc., many Thai shops sell after-market hooks which are designed to easily fit the Honda Zoomer X. These hooks cost no more than a few hundred Thai baht.
The Honda Zoomer X seat is also much longer than other smaller CC models in the Thai market, such as the Honda Scoopy and Yamaha Fino. This longer seat allows a passenger to sit much more comfortably – especially when you consider that the passenger can hold on to the nice tail rail that is part of the Honda Zoomer X design.
Performance & Safety
We at Fatboy’s always say that safety is the #1 priority when riding a motorbike – and we think that the Honda Zoomer X is one of the safest models in the market!
We all can relate to the terrible road conditions in Bangkok, with cracks and potholes to be found everywhere on Bangkok city’s streets. Not an issue for the Honda Zoomer X though – with its wide tires, you will have both more stability and peace of mind when you accidentally hit a Bangkok pothole.
Additionally, the Honda Zoomer X mirrors are designed in a way that gives you a good vision of traffic coming from behind you – which cannot be said for some other models in the market.
Despite the smaller 110cc engine size, the Honda Zoomer X has a noticeably quicker acceleration versus other similar sized models. This is perfect when living in a city like Bangkok, as it allows you to efficiently maneuver in between the start and stop nature of traffic in the city!
The Honda Zoomer X can comfortably hit top speeds of up to 80 kilometers per hour, which is more than enough power you will ever need to cruise in any Bangkok neighborhood. However if you plan to use the Zoomer for larger roads located in Bangkok’s surrounding areas, 80 kilometers per hour is probably not enough speed to keep up with traffic, and Fatboy’s would recommend you to consider a motorbike with a larger engine size, like a Yamaha Grand Filano 125CC or a Yamaha Aerox 155CC.
Finally, the Honda Zoomer X uses a Combi-Brake system, which is Honda’s fancy jargon for a brake system that triggers both the back brake and front brake at the same time! This brake system is great for beginner riders, who may not be confident handling their bike’s brakes in the most effective manner.
Maintenance
As you would expect from a small scooter from Honda, the Honda Zoomer X is both easy and cheap to maintain. Getting spare parts for the Zoomer is rarely a problem, especially in Bangkok, and our Fatboy’s mechanics can always quickly repair your Zoomer for you!
Every motorbike model has unique elements that you must be aware of when servicing the motorbike, and the Honda Zoomer X is no different.
Neck Bearing
One of our favorite parts about the Honda Zoomer X is its smooth, V-shaped neck and handlebars, which allow for easy turns. However in order to continue having this smooth turning experience, the neck bearing often needs to be replaced more frequently than other models.
Rear Mudguard & Rear Turning Lights
While most of the Zoomer’s frame is made of strong, quality material, the same cannot be said for rear mudguard and the rear turning lights. The rear mudguard frequently cracks with minimum impact, and the rear turning lights often fall off. Thankfully, these parts do not cost more than a few hundred baht to replace!
Suspension
Being a smaller scooter, the Honda Zoomer X was also built for smaller riders in the Thai market. Therefore, the Zoomer’s suspensions may not feel soft enough depending on your body size or need to be replaced more frequently if you are a bigger build. After-market suspension can also be installed for a smoother ride!

Best Suited For?
The Honda Zoomer X is best suited for a person or couple looking for a reliable vehicle for daily shorter commutes within the Bangkok city center. Perfect size for weaving in between traffic, this bike is perfect for beginner riders with its 110cc engine, wide tires, and smooth neck bearing. The convenience factors also make this scooter model stand out for the urban city dweller.
Some people may not like the Honda Zoomer X futuristic design and often brighter colors. Also for people who are either taller or heavier, the Honda Zoomer X may be too small to be comfortable driving, and the suspension may not be sufficient enough.
Also for people living in the outskirts of Bangkok or the neighboring provinces of Nonthaburi, Pathumthani, and Samut Prakan, the Honda Zoomer X may not have enough acceleration and speed for you to feel comfortable driving the larger, higher speed limit roads and to keep up with the traffic.
